By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Using TVN’s extensive suite of services across North America, Anime Network announced today that it’s entered a three-year, comprehensive Video on Demand services partnership with TVN. Supporting Anime Network’s subscription and free on demand programming services across various codecs and formats.

The agreement the agreement includes industry-wide distribution and asset/metadata management services, according to the companies.

Anime Network represents the ideal type of programming for On Demand with its niche programming and ardent fan base, according to the company. Anime Network provides high quality programming to their affiliates and loyal fans, company officials say. With this partnership, the company can look to extend and expand its longstanding relationship with them, they say.

TVN Entertainment Corporation officials say their company has a relationship with every major studio, network, and telecommunications video provider in North America. The company is the provider of choice for original on-demand programs and networks, they say.

According to the agreement, Anime Network will have full access to TVN’s on-demand products and services. This includes ADONISS – the Emmy-nominated asset management system and iPRI – an advanced interactive tool that lets programmers update VoD metadata before, during, and after asset distribution to VoD servers and TVNow.

Under the agreement, Anime Network’s on-demand advertising initiatives will also be supported by TVN Entertainment.

An early entrant in the VoD space, Anime Network recently exited the linear channel business, choosing to focus its resources on its SVOD and free on demand initiatives, according to the company. The company took this step as VoD has proven to be a more efficient platform to provide high quality content to its avid audience.

“Our goal has always been to create an unparalleled viewing experience for Anime fans, and VoD is a centerpiece of that strategy because of its strong consumer appeal and its ability to promote niche content,” said Stacy Dodson, programming director for Anime Network. “TVN has been a great partner, and we look forward to expanding upon that foundation to take advantage of TVN’s innovations like dynamic metadata updates and VoD advertising support.”
