Video Enhancement Technology from Ipera Technology
By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Ipera Technology announces that its Pixel Magic Video Enhancement Technology will be now available for X-86-based PCs and servers. It will dramatically improve video quality at low power for PCs ranging from video servers to pocket PCs, laptops, and desktops. Pixel Magic is capable of running any video codec
and video encoded from any PC.
Ipera Technology (News - Alert) focuses on influencing its patent-pending video enhancement technology to deliver extremely low-power solutions that improve the video quality of a broad range of video-enabled business and consumer products
Pixel Magic SE can help OEMs and ODMs who want to stand apart from the rest in offering quality video services to their customers, and it is programmed to support next-generation PCs, such as the laptop PCs with built-in mobile broadband that are being promoted by Microsoft (News - Alert) and the GSMA.
Watching videos on Web sites is growing in popularity throughout the world. In 2007 alone, there were 22.7 billion views of these videos. Most of these videos on the sites were created and posted by users, who made them with their low quality camcorders or from their mobile phone cameras. By integrating Pixel Magic SE technology on the video server side, the video can be enhanced to provide a better quality video and experience to end users. The Pixel Magic also has a higher video compression
quality that can allow high resolution videos on low bandwidths.
Ipera’s new patent-pending core technology solves quality issues in video applications by reducing and/or totally eliminating distortions generated by various types of codecs, as well as noise and imperfections inherent in sensors and LCD displays. In particular, Pixel Magic SE includes contrast and brightness enhancement, skin tone, and color enhancement and correction, edge and detail enhancement, and video signal boosting tailored specifically for LCD displays.
Pixel Magic SE is compatible with all video codec formats, including H.264, VC1, DivX®, MPEG-1/2/4, H.263, WMV, FLV, raw video, and any future format. All CPU/DSP architectures are supported, as well as all current and future VLSI manufacturing processes.
Requiring only about 100 kb of storage, Pixel Magic can run under Linux as well as Windows CE, XP and Vista. Ipera licenses its core technology as PC software, as embedded software for portable consumer devices powered by DSP or microprocessors, and as system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for IC companies.
