Visix Integrates Extron's IP Link into AxisTV
By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Visix has reportedly integrated Extron’s IP
Link Ethernet control technology into its Web-based visual communications application, AxisTV, enabling users to efficiently manage displays in digital signage applications.
The integrated solution can support the Extron IPL T S1 Ethernet
Control Interface and will be available for purchase in June. The new release will enable users to access an unlimited number of IP Link devices from a single browser interface to manually control a variety of display functions or schedule on/off cycles. Visix company officials explain that their integrated solution has the ability to control display functions closely associated with digital signage. Integrators with programming knowledge can also further expand functionality.
Trey Hicks, vice president of Sales with Visix said in a statement that depending on the size of the deployment, users can recognize hundreds or even thousands of dollars in potential energy savings annually, by turning displays off when not in use. He explained that users can help reduce carbon emissions, and can also extend the life of their displays and reduce the likelihood of image retention.
Lee Dodson, Extron vice president of Marketing pointed out that controlling displays with an IP Link device in this application is transparent. As the Extron IP Link interface works in concert with the Visix AxisTV application, it allows the digital signage user to manage both media content and display hardware from a single browser interface.
Extron Electronics manufactures professional A/V system integration products.
Visix designs, develops and supports a suite of software applications that allow users to create, import and manage their visual communications from anywhere and to deliver those messages to virtually any endpoint.
The company also released its first fully-embedded digital signage media appliance that is capable of playing a variety of still, video and audio formats including video overlay from external sources. The appliance can also support external database sources delivered in RSS and XML
formats.
