Amino Selects Celeno Wi-Fi for Connected IPTV Set-Top Boxes

Amino Communications (News - Alert) recently announced a collaboration with a provider of semiconductors for multimedia Wi-Fi home networking applications, Celeno Communications. Amino’s range of IPTV (News
- Alert) set-top boxes will be complemented with a range of wireless products from Celeno. IPTV and over the top video can now be distributed in the home by Celeno's 3x3 video-grade Wi-Fi portfolio.
In a release, Donald McGarva, CEO of Amino said, "With Celeno's field-proven Wi-Fi technology and rich Wi-Fi chipset portfolio, we are able to offer our Telco customers devices that combine all the quality they've come to expect from Amino devices with additional wireless functionality."
Amino will be able to offer whole home Wi-Fi networking using Celeno's OptimizAIR technology. Apart from HD IPTV distribution, the Wi-FI networking will also be able to handle multi-room DVR and OTT video and Video on Demand or VoD consumption anywhere in the home.
Amino and Celeno will be offering Wi-Fi/Ethernet bridges and Wi-Fi/USB dongles. While Celeno's CL1830 SoC will be used to power the Wi-Fi/Ethernet bridges, the Wi-Fi/USB dongles will be powered by Celeno's CLR250 chip.
Gilad Rozen, CEO of Celeno, said, "Our Wi-Fi portfolio provides superior home networking infrastructure to customers such as Amino, combining high performance for flicker-free video with the flexibility and ease of use required by consumers."
After-market IP STBs, including the Aminet A130, A140 and A540 will be wirelessly enabled by Wi-Fi/Ethernet bridges. Centrally stored content can be consumed anywhere in the home with the whole-home wireless PVR functionality enabled by these powerful bridges. Wi-Fi/USB dongles will also allow HD IPTV and OTT content to be received wirelessly by after-market IP STBs.
