TANDBERG Wins Frost and Sullivan Market Share Growth Leadership Award

By Anita B., TMCnet Contributor

Long distance communication challenges, increasing business productivity and the bid to cut travel costs globally has resulted in the increase in demand for solutions like video conferencing. Global high definition video conferencing and mobile products and services player TANDBERG seems to have understood this requirement perfectly receiving the 2008 Frost & Sullivan Market Share Growth Leadership Award for the European videoconferencing endpoints market.
The TANDBERG video conferencing solutions captured a major share of the market (49.7%) and growing by 58.4 percent over the previous year in the Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) region. The company was selected for the award based on the demonstration of its ability to grow dynamically in the European market. With dual headquarters in New York and Norway, TANDBERG designs, develops and markets systems and software for video, voice and data. The company provides sales, support and value-added services in more than 90 countries worldwide.
"We are pleased to receive the 2008 Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) Market Share Growth Leadership Award for the European videoconferencing endpoints market, and even more honored that our customers continue to see TANDBERG video products and services as a solution for today's business challenges," said Geir Olsen, President of TANDBERG EMEA on the company’s achievement.
According to the Frost & Sullivan report, videoconferencing has shaken off the slump of the early part of the decade and has made a strong comeback in Europe. After displaying only modest growth in the past few years, video conferencing is now rapidly gaining on the growth profile of other conferencing solutions.
Over the years, the company has been increasing its share in the traditional video conferencing market, while gradually making inroads into the larger field of IP communications. "Through its strong commitment to R&D, the implementation of a successful pan-European marketing strategy, and the creation of a strong distribution network, TANDBERG has firmly established its position as a market leader," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Prarthana Somal.
Further illustrating its leadership, the company notched an equally impressive growth rate of 46 percent in its global video conferencing endpoints business largely on the strength of its technological advancements, extension of its product line, and addition of High Definition (HD) capability to many of its systems. In 2008, Tandberg (News - Alert) launched its pioneering telepresence product and created important strategic partnerships while continuing to advance and expand our product line to ensure the very best customer experience.
TANDBERG has forged strong partnerships with several major players across the communication market. It is taking full advantage of the evolving unified communications market by continuing to expand its strategic partnerships with other key unified communications vendors to provide the most advanced visual communications capabilities.
The Frost & Sullivan Award for Market-share Growth Leadership Award is presented each year to the company that has demonstrated excellence in increasing market share within its industry. To choose the recipient of this award, an analyst team tracks market share gain, increase in sales, and brand awareness efforts within the industry. This is accomplished through interviews with market participants, end-user studies, and extensive secondary research. Other recipients of the award this year included Tailgate Technologies, Datalogic, Stratos, MetaSwitch, BT Global Services and Sarian Systems.
