By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Move Networks has announced that it is tuning its media player to work along well with the Intel (News - Alert) Atom processor based Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and Netbooks so that consumers can get quick high quality internet television access.

Move Networks is a provider of Internet television services that are claimed to drive the growth and support of online audiences for broadcasters and publishers including Fox, ABC, the CW, and Discovery.

Officials say the company is going to employ a multi screen strategy that will optimize internet television experience on a full range of mobile devices using Intel Atom processor and Moblin-based OS.

Move Networks hopes to cash in the increasing demand of media consumption on mobile by enhancing the quality and optimizing multi screen accessibility of internet television. Officials explain that internet television programmers and distributors can take advantage of the Intel-based MID and Netbook platforms to deliver higher quality and more engaging Internet television experiences to viewers across multiple screens.

“Technologies from companies such as Intel are transforming television, turning it into a medium where viewer choice is never compromised by quality,” said John Edwards, CEO, Move Networks. “Intel’s advanced MID and CE platforms are moving us one step closer towards a world where television programmers and distributors can deliver high-quality Internet television programming to screens on any Internet-connected device.”

The media player from Move is said to be optimized for using in Intel Atom based portable devices that are running on Linux open source Moblin stack. It is based on its advanced adaptive streaming technology that able to stream media files according to available bandwidth and hence making the whole media playback smoother than before. It even claimed to be able to play HD (High Definition) media files with no jitter by splitting the media clips into tiny streamlets with various encoding bit rate capability.

Intel stated that by combining their high performance Atom processor and Moblin-based OS along with Move Networks’ advanced Internet television delivery technology and services, consumers are provided with more advantageous ways to get internet media content while they are at home or on the go.

Intel and Move Networks are demonstrating the new viewer-friendly Internet television interface for these mobile devices at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES (News - Alert)) this week.
