Calix has announced new interactive IPTV (News - Alert) applications enabled by Microsoft Mediaroom in a bid to offer new IPTV solutions to customers. The features include security monitoring and caller ID applications created by Microsoft (News - Alert) Certified Integration partner, 180Squared.
Microsoft Mediaroom provides television content in digital and HD picture quality coupled with features such as an easy on-screen guide, a DVR, VOD, lightning-fast channel change, and the ability to watch up to six channels at one time.
According to officials with Calix (News - Alert), its customers in North America are now choosing an improved home entertainment experience by deploying the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV platform. With the platform, they can now see multiple channels and programs on one screen with features such as instant channel change and multiview capabilities offered by Microsoft Mediaroom. Calix said it will also offer a state-of-the-art home entertainment experience for Xbox 360 and Cisco (News - Alert) set-top box consoles.
“This year at TelcoTV, Calix is once again raising the bar by demonstrating the most advanced home entertainment experience on the show floor across an access infrastructure that offers the most deployment flexibility,” said Geoff Burke, Calix senior director of corporate marketing. “Calix has created a clear picture of how service providers can redefine the integrated home experience, and implement it with flexible access solutions.”
