By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Max Media Co., a service provider based in Taiwan, recently contracted BNS, a provider of IP-based content and technology solutions, to supply it with complete IPTV (News - Alert) turnkey solutions including network, equipment, software, content, and system integration, maintenance and support services. These will be used by Max Media to operate the IPTV service it plans to deploy in Taiwan.

According to a press release BNS has successfully completed phase one of this service deployment and now over 1,500 homes are connected in the service roll out which is on track to be launched to a further 3,000 and more buildings within the next five years, representing 10 percent of Taiwan's population.

According to Max Media, the IPTV service will be deployed in residential complexes including high-end estates, commercial buildings, service apartments and hotels in Taiwan, consisting of 45 TV channels, including exclusive Chinese channels not seen on cable TV, true HDTV channels and VOD content, TV shopping and TV advertising services to homes, offices and hotel rooms. It will also be the first service to offer network-based PVR (Personal Video Recorder) features in Taiwan.

The service’s network-based PVR, or nPVR, service automatically records real-time television content and enables subscribers to rewind it or view it at a later stage, but without having another piece of equipment cluttering their homes.

In the release, Andy Cheng, CEO of Max Media, said feedback received from subscribers has been extremely positive, specifically with regards to the brilliant HD picture quality. The rewind TV function is also really popular among subscribers, he said.

Recently BNS and Mitel (News - Alert) delivered advanced hotel services with HD-IPTV system and BNS deployed RoomWise HD-IPTV at Hong Kong hotel.
