Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago "TSTT" is teaming up with Calix to provide Blink Entertainment, an advanced IPTV (News - Alert) service in Trinidad and Tobago, the twin island republic.
The Blink Entertainment service provides packages to deliver more than 100 high definition and standard definition channels, PPV, VOD and DVR in addition to interactive features. This will help TSTT to expand its broadband services by utilizing its existing broadband infrastructure.
In addition, Blink Entertainment will be able to provide a secure and pre-encoded content feed with a mix of international content tailored to meet the local tastes of its subscribers.
Advanced IPTV services have been provided to more than 1 million residents by using gigabit passive optical networking (GPON), very high-speed digital subscriber line 2 (VDSL2), and asymmetrical digital subscriber line 2 plus (ADSL2+) over both fiber and copper. It is proposed to expand the services to additional areas in the country in a phased manner.
Calix (News - Alert) professional services and Calix compatible program have worked closely with TSTT to ensure the quality of service by providing them the necessary inputs at the time of implementation, system integration, validation and by providing monitoring and maintenance support.
Gary Barrow, executive vice president of converged services of TSTT stated that Blink Entertainment is helping them to achieve their objective of bringing world-class entertainment services to the people of Trinidad and Tobago and Calix has provided them the expertise, the resources, and the technology necessary to succeed in this task.
