FLO TV Incorporated’s much anticipated handheld FLO TV Personal Television reportedly available with major retailers like Amazon.com (News - Alert) and Best Buy. The handheld FLO TV Personal Television provides live and time-shifted content through the FLO TV mobile TV service.
RadioShack will also begin selling the device online and in stores this holiday season. As part of the launch, FLO TV is bundling the first six months of subscription service into the overall retail price of $249.99 for a limited time. However, after six months, a monthly service subscription fee will be charged.
According to Bill Stone, president of FLO TV, the FLO TV Personal Television is a dedicated device for consumers' on-the-go lifestyle that is perfect for sharing with friends and family, as well as for personal viewing time. The FLO TV Personal Television adds another way for consumers to use the FLO TV service, in addition to a variety of handsets and the recently introduced FLO TV Auto Entertainment system.
FLO TV Personal Television offers features like dedicated portable television and a capacitive touch screen. It measures 3 inches by 4.4 inches by 0.5 inches and weighs just over 5 ounces which makes it small enough to fit in the user’s pocket. However, the screen is large enough to enjoy a complete television experience. The touch-screen of FLO TV Personal Television lets users control the device with intuitive swipe gestures. In addition, the FLO TV Personal Television features long battery life with more than five hours of viewing time and 300 hours on standby.
The device offers full-length simulcast and time-shifted programming from the world's best entertainment brands like CBS Mobile, CNBC, COMEDY CENTRAL, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, MTV and Nickelodeon. In addition, FLO TV offers limited-time bonus channels for special events, premium programs and original content.
The FLO TV service is available through a dedicated multicast network so that a huge number of consumers can simultaneously get high-quality video and audio in real time without streaming, buffering or downloads. The FLO TV Personal Television also features a built-in adjustable viewing stand and integrated stereo speakers.
FLO TV is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm (News - Alert) Incorporated. It provides an end–to–end service that opens new market opportunities to all members of the mobile TV value chain.
