Video Messaging: A Better Alternative to Texts?

For many users across the world, mobile phones have become a quintessential part of daily life.
 
From keeping users connected to loved ones and co-workers, to being an on-the-go entertainment source, a mobile wallet, and so much more, the devices continue to become important as new features and functionalities are introduced.
 
Early last month, the mobile phone became an important device for sending last minute video messages to friends and family when Mogreet and AG Interactive, the online division of American Greetings Corporation, announced the launch of a new mobile greetings service.
 
The new service makes it possible for users to send mobile greetings using Mogreet's cross-carrier, MMS mobile video marketing platform to over 2,500 different handset models across virtually every major mobile carrier in the United States.

This announcement is one of many others being introduced that further promote the use of mobile video messaging.

An article today in the New York Times highlights the importance of this mobile application as an easy to use mobile service that’s as easy and quick to send, as a text message.

According to the NYT article, the market for messaging services is strong because it can appeal to a number of users not only because its easy to use, but because data plans are not required and for businesses, its also another way to “monetize their markets.”

Nike, Reebok, Warner Brothers, and the National Football League Players Association have also been exploring the use of video messaging according to the NYT.
